This page explains, in plain language, how Money Watchmen accesses the financial accounts you connect.
How the connection works
Account connections are provided by Plaid Inc. When you connect an institution, you sign in with your bank inside Plaid’s secure window. Plaid returns a token that allows Money Watchmen to read transaction data. We store that token encrypted and never display it. Your bank password is never sent to Money Watchmen.
What we can see
- Account name, type, and the last four digits of the account number.
- Transactions: date, amount, description, merchant, and whether the transaction is pending or posted.
What we cannot do
- Move, transfer, or withdraw money.
- Pay bills or initiate any transaction.
- See or store your bank password.
- See your full account or card number.
Revoking access
Remove any institution from your Connected Accounts page at any time. We immediately revoke the token with Plaid. You can also manage Plaid connections at my.plaid.com. Deleting your Money Watchmen account removes all connections.
Plaid’s role
Plaid’s handling of your data is governed by the Plaid End User Privacy Policy, which you accept when you connect an account.
